Scriptures

"And this is not all. Do ye not suppose that I know of these things for myself? Behold, I testify unto you that I do know that these things I have spoken are true. And how do ye suppose that I know of their surety? 46. Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God... 48. I say unto you, that whatsoever I shall say unto you, concerning that which is to come, is true; and I say unto you, that I know that Jesus Christ shall come, yea, the Son, the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace, and mercy, and truth. And behold, it is he that cometh to take away the sins of the world, yea, the sins of every man who steadfastly believeth on his name. 49. And now I say unto you that this is the order after which I am called, yea, to preach unto my beloved brethren."
-Alma 5:45-46,48-49
"Come unto Christ and be perfected in him and deny yourselves of all ungodliness."
-Moroni 10:32

People Are Crazy

Good afternoon people,

This week was good! A little crazy, with some crazy people, but that
is what makes it fun! So we had a missionary broad cast this week and
it was sooo good! Missionaries from around the world were all watching
a broadcast put on by the leaders of our church. I learned so much and
I would send you all my notes, but I don't think many of you would
enjoy that. So over all what I really got the most from the broadcast
is that this church and the gospel of Jesus Christ is all about
change, and I knew, but learned more about how that change can not
occur in someone if they do not accept the spirit into their hearts to
change them. I can do all that I can as a missionary to bring the
spirit into their homes and lives but it won't have any effect if they
do not except it into their hearts.

So we had an investigator (who shall not be named) who had a life
changing experience this past week. She had a major heart attack that
sent her to the hospital. We went to the hospital to go see her and
she said she was going to leave the next day, but that she wanted to
tell us It was kind of funny. She told us about all these weird
hallucinations about rings. She said the rings had words on them like
honor and respect and she told us that she now realizes that those
words were God describing her. This is just one example of the many
stories our investigators like to tell us. You got to love people here
though, they always make us smile, and surprise us.
It would be easy to give up on an investigator like this. I wouldn't
have to stress out about the crazy decisions that they are making in
their lives, however this investigator has the strongest desire to
change that I have ever seen in anyone. And it's going to take time
and hard work, but as long as I am trying my best, and the
investigator is trying their best, than Jesus Christ will make up the
rest.

Love you all hope you're doing well!

Glendale!

Hey everyone!

This week was pretty fun! We got a lot of things done which is a good
feeling. Kevin is progressing so well. I know at the beginning I was
kind of upset because he already knew so much about the church, but it
turns out that we can teach him things, and he is learning so much!
We also picked up another investigator at a convalescent home. His name
is Vern, and he is so sweet. We were teaching him the restoration and
when we said that the priesthood was resorted back to the earth he
said, "wait what? It's back??" And we said "yes it was brought back
through Joseph Smith" and he said "oh that's wonderful!" He said that
he wanted to be baptized too he is seriously so cool and he gets it!
We also picked up two new investigators, Ben and Phil, we met Ben
tracting, and he... Well he's an interesting fellow but he said that
he did want to be apart of our church so we'll see where it goes! Phil
is really cool, he is going to be working on praying more, but he
knows he needs God more in his life.

Gigi and Justine are doing well, they went to a baptism this week, I think it's just
eliminating the fear that they have now. So there is the update on the people we are
teaching.
We did go to a training meeting this week, and president did
say that we need to do language study just in case we get transferred
to a language speaking area. So that has been interesting, our only
question is which language do we study? Haha Spanish? Armenian?
Korean? Or Chinese? Maybe we will just learn all of them! Hahaha gift
of tongues is really going to have to come through for us! Haha wish
us luck!

Take care all! Love you!

Happy 2016!

Happy New Years! Its only day four of 2016! Can you believe it!! It’s
going by so fast already! ;) haha, nah just kidding. This year has
been great so far though!

This week was interesting. I reflected a lot on good ol’ 2015 and I am
not gonna lie, it was a great year; one that will probably make the
books as one of my most favorite years of my life. Besides meeting the
raddest people ever at BYUI, and all the adventures I had with them,
and getting my mission call, and actually starting my mission, this is
my favorite year, because I personally found how to come closer to
Jesus Christ. There were many things that I struggled with before
coming out on my mission, as everyone does, but I am so happy that I
know how to handle those struggles now, and it’s so easy to get
through! It’s because of Him :) Every progression I make in my life I
give all credit to Him, because I am weak and I would be so lost
without Him. So I am here on my mission for Him, and there is a quote I
really like that I recently heard, "This is the beginning of a new
day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it- or
use it for good, but what I do today is important because, I am
exchanging a day of my life for it! When tomorrow comes this day will
be gone forever, leaving in its place something I have traded for it.
I want it to be gain and not loss; good and not evil; success and not
failure, so that I shall not regret the price that I have paid for
it." (Dr. H. Wilson)

Each day that we live is precious, it is a gift, and I am not going to waste it worrying about the past or the future.  I am going to be learning from the past, working hard now, to reach my goal for my future.

Some updates on my lovely Glendale 2nd area- transfer calls were
Saturday and Sister Ballard and I will be staying here another
transfer. I’ve been in Glendale as long as I have been out. We're
giving Maria a break :( We'll see how she’s doing in a couple of weeks.
Kevin is still amazing! He bore his testimony at church so that was
good and fun... he mainly just gave an announcement about his baptism
in two weeks because we had to move it for his surgery and sat down,
so we'll work on that one with him :) Gigi and Justine are doing
great! They've been willing to attended some other baptisms, and I
think we are making some progress on their concerns to be baptized.

That’s pretty much it for this week though!
Love you!
