Scriptures

"And this is not all. Do ye not suppose that I know of these things for myself? Behold, I testify unto you that I do know that these things I have spoken are true. And how do ye suppose that I know of their surety? 46. Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God... 48. I say unto you, that whatsoever I shall say unto you, concerning that which is to come, is true; and I say unto you, that I know that Jesus Christ shall come, yea, the Son, the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace, and mercy, and truth. And behold, it is he that cometh to take away the sins of the world, yea, the sins of every man who steadfastly believeth on his name. 49. And now I say unto you that this is the order after which I am called, yea, to preach unto my beloved brethren."
-Alma 5:45-46,48-49
"Come unto Christ and be perfected in him and deny yourselves of all ungodliness."

Happy Christmas :)

Dear everyone,
How was your Christmas?? You know I love my family from the bottom of
my heart and every Christmas I have had with them has been so amazing
and wonderful, BUT this Christmas has been my favorite, and hopefully
one I will never forget.

First off our contacting was on fire this week, we saw someone on the
street, on a bus stop and asked them if they had two minutes, if it
was a yes, we shared the video with them, if it was a no, we wished
them a merry Christmas and went on to the next person, because wow
there are so many people in California.

So we did have plans of seeing Sister Rounds (Sister Ballards aunt who
is also on a mission as a senior missionary here) on Christmas Eve,
like we did on thanksgiving, but for one reason or another our mission
president said no šŸ˜¢ he said no like the day before Christmas Eve, so
we had to scramble to find a place to go which was no fun, BUT the
Glendale 1 sisters said we could go to a dinner in their Ward because
a member there wanted to feed all the missionaries in our zone so we
did that, and it was so fun! There was a piƱata, and a white elephant
gift exchange and (best part) non members!!! Best Christmas gift you
could give a missionary right there! So we got some pretty solid
contacts for the Glendale 1 sisters. So then we spent the night with
the Glendale 1 sisters, because our heater was out and it was gonna be
like 40 degrees that night.... I'm such a weather whimp now hahaha. So
Christmas Eve night we all talked about why we wanted to serve
missions and shared our testimonies of how grateful we are for our
Savior. It was so spiritual and it made me look forward to next years
Christmas, and what I can do now to be a better missionary.
This whole transfer I have felt pretty inadequate, and I have been
lacking the faith that I should have in myself. I have failed to see
how much Christ has been walking with me in my mission. It's because
of Him I am here. As I strive to help other people, he in return helps
me, and I am so grateful for his promised blessings.

If there is anything I can do to help or serve you all in any way
through email, packages or letters let me know :) and I hope at this
time that we can all love those who have hurt us, and pray for those
in need, and go out of our way to show our love for our brothers and
sisters around us.
With love from,
Sister Plumb

I forgot to thank people for gifts!! I am so sorry!! Thank you to, the
brights, Lawson's, wanderys, grandma tish and grandpa John, the young
men of the Roxborough Ward, elder enos, and sister Lawson and of
course my wonderful family for all the lovely packages and cards this
week! They really brighten my day, and inspire me :)

Also a fun story for this week! Of all the almost accidents we see we
actually saw one saw one! So we were witnesses to a hit and run it was
insane. The police have been calling us to tell them what happened and
we identified people who could have been the person who hit and ran.
So that was fun. Almost converted the cop, but he said he was
good..... I don't think we'll hear from him again lol.

This is a picture of our district! They are the best we did a white
elephant gift exchange and I got a Justin Beiber toothbrush that
sings! Brushing my teeth won't ever be the same hahahaha

Merry Christmas :)

Hey everyone!

Wow so much and not enough has happened this week!! I am looking
forward so much for Christmas though! What a great opportunity it is
to serve a mission during the Christmas season. This week went by so
fast I'm not even sure what happened. I'm so sorry. Ok but something
exciting that heppened this week is that we had a mission Christmas
party! It was so fun! We started with a testimony meeting and then ate
some lunch and each zone prepared a song to sing for a nativity and
people were really creative with the songs it was so funny! And then
we had a piƱata!!

Also what's been fun this week is that we've been doing a 12 days of
Christmas with a family we are teaching and it's getting harder and
harder to ring the door bell and run away when we leave the gift
because they are waiting for us at the door hahaha they know it's us
but it's still fun!

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and remember the love of our
father in heaven has for each and everyone of you.
Something that I enjoy but really shouldn't be enjoying is when I'm on
the bus and ask if people are excited for Christmas, and the majority
of them cry. Which is sad but it helps me help them realize that
getting the perfect gift or the perfect meal doesn't matter. That the
true meaning of Christmas is to remember our lord and our savior Jesus
Christ.

I love you all and wish you a merry Christmas :)

Christmas Christmas Christmas!!!!!!!

Hey everyone!

This week has been so Christmassy! There's no other way to describe
it! First off sister Ballard is just a champ. She plays the piano so
well, so she was asked to play in like 3 Christmas parties this week
and I was asked to sing in two of them, so that made the week very
festive in deed. Even though it's been like 80 degrees here, people
still try to make it seem like Christmas with lights and songs and
pretending it's freezing cold when it's like 70 degrees out hahaha
Californians are so adorable. It rained a lot yesterday (that's a fun
story) so it started to rain like crazy when we got done with dinner
from a member with the elders, so we ran to their car but they said
they couldn't take us anywhere because they had a lesson to get to and
they didn't want to drop us off in the rain. So we drove to their
lesson and they told us to not get out of the car because it was a
sketchy area and sisters are technically not supposed to be there. So
we were studying in the car, when sister Ballard said she had to go to
the bathroom so badly, and she couldn't wait. There was a grocery
store just at the end of the block so we RAN through the rain, jumping
over puddles, and made it to the store, and back soaking wet. It was
kind of fun! The Elders didn't even noticed we left at all, so it all
worked out fine.

Also, some good news I hope you all will enjoy- Maria is getting
baptized!!! Aaaaahhhhh I'm so excited for her! She excepted the date
January 30! It's been 10 years that missionaries have worked with her
on and off before, but she finally opened up to us and told us her
real concerns for being baptized and we were able to help her work
through it and give her a plan of how she will reach her goal. There's
a really good scripture you should read if you have trouble with
feelings of inadequacy, guilt, or a long for relief, Mosiah 26:30.
"and though repentance is not easy as we strive to obey with all our
hearts, he gives us this promise, 'Verily I say unto you
notwithstanding your sins my bowels are filled with compassion towards
you, I will not utterly cast you off, and in the day of wrath I will
remember mercy.' The savior wants to forgive." Elder Craig  A. Cardon.
This Christmas season is a time to remember why we need a savior. I
love being on my mission during this time especially because it helps
me focus on Jesus Christ more and understand more and more each day,
how much God loves us despite our imperfections. That is true love,
and that is true joy. I love my Savior, I love my Father in Heaven. I
can show my love for them everyday on my mission, and I challenge
those of you who are not on a mission to look and pray for missionary
opportunities to serve those around you and to share what we know to
be true.

I love you all! Stay warm! Keep smiling :)

Getting Results!

Hey everyone!

This week went by so quickly! I can't even keep up! Sister Ballard is
basically a rockstar. She is so bold and loving which is really what
this area needs its perfect!

Some good news- if you guys remember Chris a couple emails back. We
had to refer him to the eastmont elders and he's getting baptized on
the 13!!! We met him one night at a bus stop and he asked to borrow
our phone because his truck broke down (we weren't worried about him
stealing it, it's a pretty crappy phone) he was about to run back to
his truck when we gave him our card with our number. And he called
us!! It's true. You pass out 100 pass along cards and if you do that
one will call you back and get baptized! Hahaha I am so happy for him!
Gigi and Justine are really progressing, we got a new investigator
last week! His name is Kevin and he'll be getting baptized on January
9! And we're still working with Maria.

But we're bowling right now so that's why I don't have a lot to say...

Thank you to my wonderful Ward for sending me holiday cards and the
Christmas card garland!! It's hanging up in my room right now, I'll
send pictures in a little bit!

I love you all so much!!
