Scriptures

"And this is not all. Do ye not suppose that I know of these things for myself? Behold, I testify unto you that I do know that these things I have spoken are true. And how do ye suppose that I know of their surety? 46. Behold, I say unto you they are made known unto me by the Holy Spirit of God... 48. I say unto you, that whatsoever I shall say unto you, concerning that which is to come, is true; and I say unto you, that I know that Jesus Christ shall come, yea, the Son, the Only Begotten of the Father, full of grace, and mercy, and truth. And behold, it is he that cometh to take away the sins of the world, yea, the sins of every man who steadfastly believeth on his name. 49. And now I say unto you that this is the order after which I am called, yea, to preach unto my beloved brethren."
-Alma 5:45-46,48-49

Book of Mormon stories

Dear family and friends.

This week has been a little cold actually. I think it got in the 80s.
Had to wear a sweater. You could say I've acclimated.
I am so excited to tell you all about who we are teaching!
So we still have Cecilia that we are reaching out to but she hasn't
reached out to us since we've given her a date. So not really sure
what happened there because she was so interested! Please pray for
her.
We picked up a new investigator, Mychal. He has autism and he reached
out to us wanting to know more about the Book of Mormon. We taught him
the first lesson with ease, and he said that he has prayed and read
the intro to the Book of Mormon our first visit. His parents really
want him to change and he has that same desire too. So we are excited
to work with him.
A miracle that happened was that we finally saw lily and Alyssa! They
are really busy, but we caught them at home and were able to share the
Book of Mormon with them. They said that they had prayed about Joseph
smith and still aren't sure but we assured them that all their
questions could be answered by reading the Book of Mormon. They said
they would start with the first chapter!
David got the priesthood this week so that was really good for him!
Joy has been doing well and mostly spent every day with us going to
lessons. Sister feng is working hard and still finding time to go to
church and she will be going to our English class that we are starting
up at the institute! I love our recent converts.
I truly love the Book of Mormon. I'm re reading in 2nephi now and even
though it's super difficult right now because Isaiah doesn't
appreciate speaking any other way besides messianically, I still
appreciate the messages that it contains. For me, anything can come
easily as long as you are putting in all your effort to understand it,
or do it. The Book of Mormon is true. It has blessed the lives of
people I have taught here. It has blessed my life. It gives me
direction and peace. Especially peace. Even Isaiah could give me peace
if I work real hard to understand. And pray. Don't forget to pray.
So that is my message for you all this day. Have a splendid week :)
good luck in school. Read your scriptures and say your prayers.

Joy to the World

                                                                                          8/15/16
Hello and good afternoon my good people!
Ok so many beautiful, eventful things happened this week, you will not
even believe!

So to start off I picked up my new baby [Trainee]!! Sister Briscoe is the bomb and I will explain why. Besides the miracle of my new
companion coming and my old companion making it safely back to China
on Wednesday (holla!) Sister Briscoe invited Cecelia to be baptized!
And she said yes!! DAH! It was a miracle and we had such a spiritual
lesson with her. The real twist of the week however was Joy. And I
know what you all are thinking... Who is Joy? Well we didn’t find out
until Friday who she was and then on Saturday she got baptized!
Whaaaat?? That right! Ok cool story.
Joy had been taking missionary lessons in Nevada for about 3 months
and was going to church and everything was good for her to get
baptized but then all of a sudden she moved to Glendora and someone
called the wrong missionaries to teach her. So for one week the elders
were teaching her and then she completed her interview and they
noticed her address was not in their area. Hence the reason we met
Joy! And I think there is a reason we were supposed to meet her and
the Elders were supposed to teach her. Just like how there is a reason
to everything. I don't know it yet. But I do know that Joy and I will
be best friends for a while :).
Moral of the story kids, miracles do happen. God rewards us in His own
time and in his own ways. I know when we are diligent and obedient in
all righteous things we are more happy and joyous. (See what I did
there ;)
Sorry if this email was too spazy for you.
Love you all!

My new companion, whom I am training, Sister Briscoe.  She is from Arizona mostly.

                                                               Joy's baptism day!

Sister Xia, my 2nd Chinese companion, who taught me a lot about obedience.  We served in the Glendora, CA area together.  She sacrificed a lot to be on her mission and was such a hard worker.  She is going to attend BYU Idaho and so we are hoping to be roommates together when I return.

Sister Gong, my first Chinese companion, whom was I asked to teach English to.  She went home the same time as Sister Xia.  We served in the Pasadena area together.

Happy Pioneer Day!

Oh my goodness! I don't think I talked about Pioneer Day last week! it's a super big deal over here. The stake put together a huge carnival with water slides and a dunk tank, a 5k, cotton candy, bbq, snow cones, the whole sha bang.

> Ok this is my last week with my sister :(
> Wish sister Xia luck with her goals, her dreams. She is amazing. Truly flawless. There is no one like her. One day I'll be in Chéng du and need surgery, and she can be my surgeon. Why? Oh ya because she is one. Isn't that cool? Ya I don't think I have bragged about her enough. She is a great missionary and she will be an even bigger help in China.
> I'll let y'all know who my new companion is next week!
>
> Love you all! Remember to smile to strangers, go to church, look where you're going when playing Pokemon go, Brush your teeth, say your prayers, have a good week!

> Ps. Sorry this wasn't spiritual in the slightest 1Nephi 3:15-16 But behold I said unto them that: As the Lord liveth, and as we live, we will not go down unto our father in the wilderness until we have accomplished the thing which the Lord hath commanded us. Wherefore, let us be faithful in keeping the commandments of the Lord; therefore let us go down to the land of our father’s inheritance, for behold he left gold and silver, and all manner of riches. And all this he hath done because of the commandments of the Lord.

Donuts and a Rescued Kitten

Hey everyone,
Doing well! How are you?

I went to Donut Man today! It is a fun donut shop in Glendora, CA. Their peach donuts are delicious.  It's been and going to be a crazy day, so why not start it out with donuts!  I said goodbye to my Chinese sister today.   Sister Xia will fly home to China tomorrow.  She has been a great companion who taught me a lot about obedience.

And I will be getting my new companion tomorrow!  I am excited to meet her and show her around Glendora.  She will be coming straight from the MTC too!  I hope she likes me! Ha Ha!

It's been hot here all summer. Sister Xia was sick this week but a cool story that happened this week was that we rescued a kitten from a gutter! And it followed us. We were in a trio with a cat named chocolate. And then we were talking with someone and they took chocolate and ran away.... It was quite sad. I hope by rescuing chocolate we didn't at more stress to him.

Remember God loves all his children. Even that weird man who took our cat. I will try to remember that.

Love,

Sister Plumb

We celebrated Sister Xia as it was her last Zone Conference with us!

Letter from President Villanueva to Us, Zhenya's Parents

Dear Brother and Sister Plumb,

It is a pleasure to share with you that your daughter, Sister Zhenya Christine Plumb, has been assigned to serve as a Trainer of a new missionary who has recently arrived from the MTC.  This new assignment reflects the trust the Lord has in your daughter.

As a trainer she will have a profound and lasting influence in the development of the new missionary's attitude, habits and capacity to accomplish her  purpose to invite others to come unto Christ.  Only the most outstanding missionaries are given this responsibility.  Thank you for the great effort you have put in preparing her so she could fulfill this new responsibility that she has received.

Sister Villanueva and I feel so blessed to have your daughter in the California Arcadia Mission. Thank you for your faithful prayers and constant support which will help your daughter fulfill this new assignment.

Sincerely,
Moises Villanueva

Hey everyone, it's me, AGAIN.

So many little wonderful miracles happened this week that words cannot
even help in expressing. But, as every week, I will try my best.

Our teaching pool was looking a little scanty so we decided to pick up
5 new investigators and we did. We are hoping to at least invite two
of them to be baptized this week. Their names are Cecelia, Bernatte
and oh ya Bernatte's husband so maybe 3....oh but Cecelia has a
daughter so maybe four! Anyways they are all very sweet and both have
a lot of questions about Christ.

We had leg day everyday this week because we biked a HUGE mountain
everyday.... Why? Because we love not being able to breathe when it's
98 and above with a fire going on the other side of the
mountain..... Nah we had an investigator up there. So the climb was
worth it. Of course. Always. ANYWAYS my legs aren't bleeding
internally at all. It just feels that way.

Ummmmmm...... Oh! We had a good Sunday. Two less active members came and two
investigators with their families. We had a linger longer after as
well and they all really enjoyed it!

Let's see, it was the first time ever that I wiped ash off my bicycle
seat. One of the sisters in our pad tore her meniscus and we went on
exchanges with them a lot. We ate some otter pops. Oh and took a cool
tour of a members house who is in love with church history.
